Go to any commercial gym in and around Luxembourg and you'll be presented with the option to have a personal training session, but frankly what you'll get is far from "personal".

The whole concept of personal training has been devalued to the point of someone showing you the machines in the gym, counting reps and throwing in the odd word of encouragement.

I get the feeling you are looking for something a little more!

My team of coaches are trained to walk you through our training concept step by step. This is essential to your success and not something we rush through in a matter of a few hours or even weeks!

The individualised programs we create for you are designed to work over a 12 week period. This is so you get a full understanding of how to train more effectively and achieve your goals.

In the first 4 weeks we start with an assessment that identifies postural and functional weaknesses, following a program that prepares the body for more intense work later on, and cleansing the body of toxins which are inhibiting your progress. Don't misunderstand me here, if you follow our guidelines exactly you will see dramatic results in this first 28 days.

The 2nd phase is all about building on the base you develop in phase 1. The intensity and effectiveness of the training programs is progressed, as well as changing your attitudes and habits surrounding your nutrition.

The 3rd four week phase is designed to show you how your training can be adapted yet further for more significant results beyond the 12 weeks with us. By this point we normally find that our clients have developed lifelong habits and learned training skills they can take anywhere anytime.

You'll meet with your coach twice a week for a 45 to 60 minute appointment, but your contact with them is not limited to this time. There are over 160 more hours in the week where you may need support.

During the first phase we are looking for you to provide daily feedback to your coach, so we can make sure you are progressing in the right way, especially in this critical first phase where we find our clients need the most support.

You scheduled appointments are based around your own personalised training programs, however you will also be discussing your nutrition and goal acheivement, as well as receiving coaching on how to make these new habits work in to your lifestyle.

You'll notice that we do not price our training on an hourly or per session basis. Hopefully you'll appreciate that coaching you to your health and fitness goals is not just about the appointments you have with your coach, but as a whole on going support over weeks and months. For this reason we quote our fees on a monthly basis or for the full 12 week program.

There are three levels of coach at GetFit.lu based on the experience of your coach:

Tim Goodwin is the head coach, with limited availability you would need to be willing to commit 100% without deviation to the programs and advice he provides. Tim only takes on the most committed individuals, with the highest fee for personal training in Luxembourg, you must be prepared to work very hard for your results.

Our senior coach, Jessica Walsh has been with us since 2007, her role is as much about training her dedicated clients but also bringing our newer coaches up to speed with our very different approach to training our clients. Jessica demands results of her clients and our neww coaches.

Finally our level 1 coaches are our newest coaches who have been through a rigourous process of selectiona and education. I personally select only the best new recruits for our team, where I look for how well these guys communicate and listen to people as well as having an aptitude and hunger for knowledge.

Head coach - 800 Euro/phase

Senior coach - 640 Euro/phase

Level 1 coach - 480 Euro/phase

1 phase = 4 weeks, with two appointments per week.

Where does the training take place?

In January 2010 we moved in to our new premises in Strassen. This is a private personal training studio that is very different from the commercial gyms you commonly train at.

You can get the detailed, personalised treatment within the privacy of the intimate studio environment. We have a pleasant changing and shower area, as well as a quiet consultation and therapy room if we need to take you away from the main studio floor.

And because of the layout of the studio, we never have more than 3 clients trained at any one time in the space.

Are there any other costs involved with our coaching?

The only other fee we have is for the initial assessment. The Kinetic Chain Assessment, is a specialised service that all our clients must go through in order for us to establish the safest and most effective training program for them. This is charged at 80 euros and is performed by your GetFit.lu coach

What is the nutrition plan like?

The nutritional responsibility program is straighforward to understand, rather than talk about "banned" foods, it is easier to describe the types of foods you CAN consume in the first 28 days.

  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Fresh meat, poultry, and fish products
  • Un-processed diary produce, which can include Eggs, butter and live yoghurt.
  • Water

Ths means zero refined carbohydrates such as bread or pasta, no alcohol, caffeine or sodas, and no heavily processed foods. Many of the food stuffs that come in a packet, tin or box are generally not allowed.

Try not to second guess the nutrition guidelines, they are simple guidelines but should not be deviated from for the first 28 days.

Do I have to stick to the nutrition plan?

The easy answer to this is YES, to not follow nutritional responsibility is going to waste an awful lot of your time and training effort. Continuing to consume foods of little or no nutritional value would be like driving your ferrari on diesel fuel, it simple would not work well!

The nutrition plan is designed to both help strip away body fat as well as ensure that your body is being fuelled optimally and providing high quality nutrients for your body to adapt to the training intensity without breaking down.

Is there flexibility when I am on holiday or away on business?

We understand that it is not always possible to work with us for 12 weeks continuously, you probably have holidays and/or business trips that get in the way of your training plans. We do encourage you to continue working during your time away, this is your committment to make good exercise and nutrition habits fit regardless of where you are.

What equipment do I need to buy for my training?

None, we will have everything you need at the training locations... you'll probably be quite surprised by the lack of equipment requirements. If you want to train at home between sessions with your coach (this is encouraged if you can't make it to the gym for the third workout of the week), you'll need the following equipment.

  • An exercise mat
  • A stability ball
  • A set of small dumbbells between 1 and 6kg.

How do I pay for the training?

You pay your coach directly, they will invoice you at the start of every 4 week phase, which you can pay by cash or bank transfer.

What happens after the 12 weeks has finished?

Many of our clients chose to continue training with us beyond the initial 12 weeks. Your goals will likely develop and change and many of our clients look to sporting and physical challenges that they thought not possible before starting to train with us.

However it is our intention that every client finishes the 12 weeks with us armed with the knowledge and skills to continue training effectively without the need for our services.

Do you offer a guarantee?

In the past I have offered a drop a dress size guarantee, which in all honesty we only ever had to pay back training fees once. Not everyone wants to register for the guarantee so we will not push you to do this, it is there if you want to take us up on it if you would like to remove the risk that your money would be wasted if you did not achieve your desired results.

If you don't take up the guarantee, we will still work you just as hard and insist you follow our programs and advice 100%, to not do so is wasting your time and money!
