CONFUSION!!!
That is probably the most common reaction when I explain what I used to do for a living and what dire shape my body was in in the early part of 2004. At my peak I was over 106kg, about 4 clothing sizes too big, with sky high stress levels from a job I hated.
The picture on the right is me and my beautiful wife, Sam, on my wedding day. This was pretty much at the time of my peak weight!
The career in question was in IT, which whilst not being wildly successful, it paid the bills, but never made me feel warm and fuzzy about who I was meant to be helping, or if I really had a future with it.
Having been a very competitive cyclist at school and unversity, I had been in steady decline since I joined the ranks of the office professional. I quickly got in to the trap of being overly stressed and lethargic, so never wanted to go training, and eating plenty of energy dense, low nutritional value food that compounded my problems and expanded my waist size considerably.
To some this may sound like a very familiar story. I do talk to many people who are trapped in this place right now and are desperate for a solution!
For me exercise was really the last thing on my mind, but I knew something had to change, I kept telling myself that I could lose this weight if I really wanted to. Thankfully I have a level headed, intelligent wife to tactfully tell me to get my butt in to shape.
Some would say quitting my "safe" job, leaving my wife for four months to re-train, all at huge cost was slightly insane. It turned out to be the most sane decision of my life.
Step forward to today and GetFit.lu is a thriving business helping clients of all different backgrounds, nationalities, ages and fitness levels achieve their fitness goals. Our coaches are trained to educate our clients in the GetFit Fundamentals, to get the very best results possible from everyone.
We train our clients out of Jack's Gym in Hesperange, as well as run the insanely popular ForestFit group training class at Bambesch.
We try to remain in the minds of our clients and potential clients by speaking regularly at various groups, including the British Chamber of Commerce, Tower Training's Power Lunch, as well as for numerous businesses on a wide range of health and fitness topics.
We have also been delighted to be part of the 352 magazines re-launch, hosting a 12 week training program for 4 lucky volunteers. Getfit.lu are proud sponsors and supporters of charity events and sports club activities around Luxembourg, including the Rugby Club of Luxembourg.
Yes, our primary role is to provide a very different kind of training service in Luxembourg, but as promoters of common sense health and fitness education to as many people as possible via our BLOGs, online products and community sites.

Tim Goodwin - Head Coach and Inspiration Behind GetFit.lu
Tim Goodwin's clients area a mix of busy professionals and equally busy stay-at-home mothers, looking to improve their fitness levels and reduce body fat. His focus is on coaching his clients to get the best out of themselves on a holistic level, rather than just focussing on the nuts and bolts of exercise. If you've struggled to find the balance between work, family and social life as well as incorporating a successful health and fitness habit, then Tim is probably the coach you are looking for.
However, Tim's schedule is designed to get the most out of his primary clients, training predominately between 7am and 2pm, Monday through Thursday each week. To fix an appointment with Tim you must be willing to work between these times, and commit 100% to all the programs set for you. Jessica Walsh - Senior Coach
Jessica has a very different approach with her clients, like Tim she looks for dedicated and hard working clients. However Jessica's style is designed to give you a set of tough workouts each and every time you step in the gym with her. Your workouts will be tough, and there really is no excuses when it comes to sorting out your nutrition and delivering on the promises you make yourself.
Jessica also runs the incredibly successful JessBoxing group training class, training predominately females to get great workouts using pads and gloves, releasing the aggressions of the day in a safe and controlled environment. Your training with Jessica will likely be scheduled during the mornings and early afternoons throughout the week.
Brad Mole - Level 1 Coach
Brad is one of our newest coaches, coming from a theraputic and sports injury massage background. He has a great aptitude for the technical knowledge and putting it in to a form that is easily digested by his clients.
Brad will coach clients during the afternoons and evenings throughout the week.
Conny Gabbellini - Level 1 Coach
Conny is a part time coach, but that is not to detract from her knowledge and ability to get the best from her clients. Conny joins the team as our main multi-lingual trainer, able to converse in German, English, Luxembourgish and French. So if your preference is to train with someone other than English speaking, Conny is the perfect coach for you.
Conny, coaches her clients from around 2pm throughout the afternoons and some evenings too.
